What goes with October? What pops up in your mind? Yaas!! Halloween! Huge scary pumpkins, slippery brownish beautiful fallen leaves, and of course, hot cinnamon flavored coffee (I can already smell that). And mentioning Halloween, I can’t stop thinking about some classical customs like Dracula’s fangs, his long black cape, haunted spirits free to lurk around in the mortal’s world looking for revenge or peace. May all of them rest in peace! Let’s pray for their poor souls by reading a book honoring Halloween.
So, this last week of October the book I suggest we read together is The Shining written by Stephen King, first published in 1977.
Stephen King is the king of horrors so, it’s the best season to enjoying his reading, although I am quite sure I’ll get more scared than enjoy it. But! It’s Halloween, right?
Oops, I must admit that I haven’t read it before neither have I watched the movie. I’ve heard it is kind of spooky.

Book Back Cover
“Jack Torrance’s new job at the Overlook Hotel is the perfect chance for a fresh start. As the off-season caretaker at the atomospheric old hotel, he’ll have plenty of time to spend reconnecting with his family and working on his writing. But as the harsh winter weather sets in, the idyllic location feels ever more remote…, and more sinister. And the only one to notice the strange and terrible forces gathering around the Overlook is Danny Torrance, a uniquely gifter five-year-old.”
After reading the book’s back cover description, I think that a family who works in the Overlook Hotel is going to get trapped inside because of the bad weather. Strange and spooky things are going to happen to the family. If it is a horror genre, I believe there will be a poor, lost soul haunting that hotel. OMG! I am not sure if I should be reading this because I am sure I am going to have nightmares! Just look at his face!
